Previewing music will bring up a number of pages designated by the publisher. It will include a watermark containing the text, "SAMPLE". An MD5 hash of the vendor's username and a valid Legato music ID is required to preview a music piece in the interactive sheet music viewer. The Legato music ID should be pulled from the vendor's database (it should have been imported previously by the vendor from the CSV file as described earlier.) These values should be appended to the URL to load the interactive sheet music viewer. Below is a complete URL to load a preview of a music piece in the interactive sheet music viewer:

In 2022, with the implementation of Sheet Music Core, preview pages were altered so that they display a purposefully lower quality PNG file with the text "Preview Only" written as an embedded watermark. The old watermark was just a simply overlay. With the new system, the image sent to the browser has the watermark embedded into the preview pages. This will take effect for any new music uploaded to Legato, but any existing music may have the old watermark as pictured in figure 4.1.0.
